Abstract

This research study analyzed the experience of second-generation Korean American Catholics in their triple minority identities as: (1) Korean American, (2) second-generation, and (3) Korean American Catholic and how these identities affect them spiritually, psychologically, and emotionally. Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, Berry’s Acculturation Model, Erikson’s Stages of Development, Crenshaw’s Intersectionality Theory, and the Catholic-Christian Meta Model of the Person (CCMMP) served as foundations to describe barriers this group faces in living out these identities and flourishing in their roles in American society.
